The New Forgotten Half and Research Directions to Support Them

With increased attention on the potential that community colleges have in providing opportunities for young people to continue their education and in reducing inequality, a new William T. Grant Foundation report examines the unique circumstances of community college students and outlines strategies to help them move beyond "some college" to completing a credential. In The New Forgotten Half and Research Directions to Support Them, which comes 25 years after the original The Forgotten Half, researchers find that many young people who enroll in community college fail to complete their studies and attain a degree, and that these youth fare no better in the labor market than those with only a high school diploma. The report list many ways to support these students.
