Inequity of resources and power is growing faster in this moment than perhaps any other in American history. How will philanthropy hold itself accountable in this challenging, but transformative moment? How should philanthropy use its collective power to uproot white supremacy and build equity and healing? In this plenary, Eric Liu, co-founder and CEO of Citizen University, will provoke funders to think in new ways about using their power to dismantle oppression and serve youth. To further provoke our collective thinking on the role of philanthropy now, Celine Coggins, executive director of Grantmakers for Education, will release the results of the GFE survey on funders’ Big Vision for the Next Stage. Finally, Kent McGuire, of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, LaVerne Srinivasan of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and Bob Boisture of the Fetzer Institute will share their perspectives on the way forward, in a discussion moderated by John B. King, president and CEO of The Education Trust.
