While a driver of innovation, philanthropy keeps failing to transform education systems because it operates under a ‘Field of Dreams’ as Theory of Change, assuming that being righteous and getting results is enough. This falls short because: a) it assumes education systems are rational systems instead of political systems; and b) it is not respectful and inclusive of communities. This session is a dialogue between a funder and a parent organizing leader that explores issues of bias, power, and control of the agenda in supporting community-driven efforts that succeed in creating systems change.
