Efforts to support social-emotional wellbeing in school are usually focused on students. According to Child Trends (pre-COVID), “61 percent of educators reported that their work is ‘always’ or ‘often’ stressful.” This burden is higher for educators of color who are often placed in schools educating systematically underserved student populations. This has been exacerbated during COVID as racial inequities have been laid bare by the disproportionate impact on educators, students, and families of color. In this session we will explore strategies for supporting the wellbeing of educators of color.
