The sole education issue to arise in the first round of Democratic presidential debates was school desegregation, both its legacy and lasting effects today. The issue arose again in the second round. In the interim, media outlets shared stories on the state of school segregation today and where change is gaining traction. For example:

Susan is professor of practice in social policy and director of the Sillerman Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy at the Heller School for Social Policy at Brandeis University. She regularly engages funders and practitioners to inform and advance grantmaking to address complex issues such as segregation. Sanjiv is director of civic engagement and government at Ford Foundation where he works to strengthen representation, participation and leadership in U.S. democracy so that communities can shape their futures, animated by principles of dignity, inclusion and fairness.
