A growing body of research points to using culturally responsive practices to advance educational equity. When they are part of a cohesive effort, these practices aim to address social and institutional barriers believed to contribute to disparities in student outcomes. This session will build grantmakers’ awareness of how education system dysfunction contributes to inequity, explore research about how culturally responsive practices can address systemic dysfunction, and envision how grantmakers can support developing a cohesive, equity-focused education system where all learners can succeed.
