In 2013, College Futures Foundation assessed internal program data and external student outcomes data and determined that its historic focus on scholarships would not by itself generate enough impact to advance equitable college attainment in California. As it transitioned from direct scholarship giving, the Foundation began a six-year initiative with community foundations to build capacity in the state’s scholarship field. This session shares the Foundation’s shift in strategy and its approach to strengthen equity champions that provide needs-based scholarships to young people.
