Systemic change requires the involvement of those most affected. Our nation’s history shows that support for the interests of women, racial minorities, and the LGBTQ community are the direct result of those groups organizing and demanding change. While the groups have led the way, they have all been supported by philanthropy. If education really is the civil rights issue of our time, then supporting community activists around this issue should be no exception. This session will examine a new funding approach by the Education team at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
