Case Study Newark: Expanded Learning Time

Presented by GFE’s Out-of-School Time Funder Network, this half-day tour will take place the afternoon and evening before GFE’s Urban Education Study Tour in Newark and feature a keynote address by Pedro Noguera, executive director of the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education at NYU and noted urban sociologist.

We’ll take an in-depth look at how diverse stakeholders in Newark are working together to expand learning time for the city’s young people through a mix of creative models. We’ll also visit Newark’s Central High School, which has achieved dramatic gains in academic assessments since the creation of the Newark Global Village School Zone.
