Webinar: An Education Funder’s Introduction to the National Student Clearinghouse
Please join Grantmakers for Education’s Data Impact Group for a free one-hour webinar on September 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET for an introduction to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC). NSC is a data collaborative that serves the education community by facilitating the exchange and understanding of student enrollment, performance and related information. Learn more about what types of data are housed at NSC and how that data can help funders analyze grants at both the student and institutional level. Also, learn about standardized and custom reporting that NSC can provide to funders.

- Natalie Smith, financial and program analyst, The Duke Endowment and co-chair of the Data Impact Group
Natalie Smith is a financial and program analyst with more than a decade of experience at The Duke Endowment. Natalie is part of the higher education program area and is the manager of the grant’s budget and data. Natalie is a certified public accountant with a master of accountancy degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she also received her bachelor and master’s degrees in history.
- Dave Pelham, managing director, foundation relations, National Student Clearinghouse
Dr. Dave Pelham has over 30 years of experience as a college and university faculty member, debate and speech coach, and administrator. This also includes 10 years as a college president and director. His experience includes assignments in several states and in the Middle East. He joined the National Student Clearinghouse in July of 2012 and led the organizational unit that focuses on maintaining high levels of service to higher education institutions. This includes developing new services to meet the changing needs and challenges of those institutions. In July of 2015, Dave’s focus in the company narrowed to managing two critical strategic areas: reverse transfer and military initiatives. In July of 2016, Dr. Pelham assumed responsibility for managing NSC’s relationships with its foundation partners. He holds an A.A. degree in general education from Brevard Community College, a B.A. in individual directions (speech, political science and history) from Carson Newman College, an M.A. in communications from Morehead State University and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from the University of North Florida. He also has a further doctoral level preparation in communication and higher education from Wayne State University and the University of Florida respectively.

LaTonya Page is the manager of secondary services at the National Student Clearinghouse. She works with local and state education agencies and outreach programs to provide a research tool, StudentTracker®, dedicated to helping them more accurately gauge the college success of their graduates and alumni. LaTonya believes in the power that data can provide in program, curriculum evaluation, college and career readiness plans. With more than 13 years in the field, she has worked closely with and supported over 40 state agencies and accounts covering more than 11,000 high schools across the country. LaTonya is a graduate of George Mason University and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
