Transforming the Learning Ecosystem

Program Dates
June 30, 2014

Grantmakers for Education (GFE), in collaboration with KnowledgeWorks and the GFE Out-of-School-Time Funders Network, invites you to Transforming the Learning Ecosystem: Putting Personalized Learning Within Reach for All LearnersRegister now for this innovative event about the future of education.

About the Program

Today’s learning ecosystem has expanded dramatically beyond a desk in a classroom and a school day that starts at 8:00am and ends at 3:00pm. While the learning ecosystem continues to expand, the opportunity to access diverse, engaging, innovative, and personalized learning for all learners is still more of a hope for the future than a current reality within reach for each and every learner.

This one-day event on June 30th in Washington, D.C will examine such questions as:

  • What are the key forces of change shaping learning over the next decade?
  • How should we expand how we define and support the learning ecosystem to ensure equity in learning opportunities for all learners?
  • How can learning experiences better reflect the evolving demands of our world?

The session will also examine the challenges of spreading and scaling personalized learning opportunities. Policymakers will add an important perspective on how, in this time of disruptive change, our systems and policies must evolve to support new, more engaging learning experiences.

This program is designed as a collaborative conversation framed by learning principles and focused on helping grantmakers generate new strategies shaped, in part, by students themselves. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Leaving to Learn author, Elliot Washor and work directly with Big Picture students, who will share experiences and offer their vision for how the learning ecosystem needs to change to keep them engaged.
