In the early weeks of the COVID-19 outbreak, many foundations launched direct aid programs to support students and communities in need. This session will explore capacity needs for administration, legal considerations, and alignment with longer-term policy and systems change strategies. Learnings will be uplifted from the work of the California Community Foundation’s decades-long work in hardship grants and the College Futures Foundation who translated their postsecondary focus and need-based scholarship strategy to quickly launch a state-wide fund for college students.
