Community Schools are powerful democratic spaces that connect communities and improve outcomes for students. A democratic, participatory assessment of needs and assets underlies their success. This process harnesses the wisdom of local communities and informs foundational decisions and strategy. From a funder’s perspective, this mapping process provides a crucial link for community engagement and self determination. Yet few funders are able to see real-world examples or related outcomes. This session provides an experience with this process and highlights relevant funding issues along the way.
