Supporting nonprofit organizations to file lawsuits against the government has not been a popular strategy among philanthropy in recent years. However, it is a relatively “safe” investment from a legal perspective and, if successful, is one of the most impactful investments a foundation can make. This session will discuss the various litigation strategies that public interest law centers are using to advance the cause of educational adequacy and equity and will explain the role that philanthropy has played in those efforts.
